Vara & Koschmann Lab

When Vara began receiving her treatment, she started seeing Dr. Carl Koschmann at CS Mott Children’s Hospital. Despite enduring painful treatments, Vara enjoyed the time she spent getting to know Dr. Carl and the lab. What she witnessed and experienced in Koschmann Lab motivated Vara and her family to advocate for more funding and a greater focus on pediatric cancer research.

Dr. Carl knows he must work quickly. Often families are given a little over a year in their diagnosis and trials and funding can take longer than that. For Dr. Carl, he must keep pushing because he knows some families just won’t have enough time. Better funding leads to quicker more efficient research that can save the lives of many.

Vara and her mother Emily truly believe that the work being done in Koschmann Lab will change the lives of future families with tumors of the brain.
